Happy First day of Fall!

It may still be warm, but September 23rd is the First Day of Fall. And with a new season comes a new list of duties to take care of around the house. Doing things like putting summer patio furniture away, storing the pool toys, switching out smoke alarm batteries, and more. Be sure to take care of these important maintenance duties and be ready for the upcoming cooler seasons!


Outdoor

  • Clean and store patio furniture, summer tools and pool toys.

  • Remove and touch up any flaking paint.

  • Check caulk around windows and doors, and restore if needed.

  • Wash windows, power wash decks and if needed, clean pavement.

  • Clean gutters and downspouts.

  • Trim out-of-place and unwanted tree branches.

  • Clean and cover BBQ or outdoor kitchen area.

  • Clean light fixtures, switch out old light bulbs.

  • Clean outside of doors.


Indoor

  • Start cleaning in public rooms including: living room, entryway, guest-bathroom, etc.

  • Clean each room from top to bottom – from the ceiling, the windowsills, to the floors.

  • Rotate and flip mattresses in all bedrooms.

  • Wash all bedding, then switch out linen types.

  • Deep clean wash room, including appliances.

  • Shampoo carpets and polish wooden floors.

  • Deep clean kitchen appliances – in, out and around them.

  • Clean kitchen sink disposal.

  • Get heating system ready for winter.

  • Clean light fixtures, switch out old light bulbs.

  • Dust and wipe down ceiling fans.

  • Switch out batteries and test the alarm and smoke detectors.

  • Replace all of the air filters.

  • Tighten any loose handles, knobs, shelves, etc.

  • Inspect and deep clean the basement.
