Basic Emergency Car Kit

Updated: Dec 13, 2018

You can never be too prepared when it comes to winter driving. Be sure to include these items in your car emergency kit!

In case you are stranded, keep an emergency supply kit in your car. Here are some of the essentials recommended by the National Safety Council and Ready.gov:

  • Jumper cables

  • Spare tire, wheel wrench and jack

  • Multipurpose tool

  • Flares or reflective triangle

  • Ice scraper

  • Car cellphone charger

  • Blankets

  • Map

  • Cat litter or sand for better tire traction

  • First aid kit

  • Fire extinguisher

  • Duct tape

Ready.gov also suggests keeping emergency numbers in your phone so that you can contact family, your auto insurance company and roadside assistance/towing company.

Hopefully you will not need this kit, but if you do, we want you to be prepared.
